Sergeant Nona

This is by far the most favorite work I ever did.
Moreover, she is my original character whom I adore most.

I even spent over one year to finish this oil-painting.

Usually, when I paint a character,
I don't use only one single model.
In other words, I take several people who are somewhat similar in appearence or possesses some personality that I want to project in the work,
and blend them on canvas.
For instance, Nona, this character, is composed of '5' different people, including two cartoon characters.

Many ppl. ask me what her half of face represent.
Is she half robot, like a terminator?
Is she created by biotechnology?
Does it mean she has split personality??
How come she's a soldier?

Usually, I don't like to explain what it each details mean.
I would rather people develop their own story about the character and the painting.
Pablo Picasso one said that
'Art only lives among people.'

Anyway, if I could present my own view, I would say
she sacrificed something in the past,
and obtained a power in return
to heart someone,
to heart herself,
but to save someone.
She also represents the courage, effort, and perceverence that overcome agony and ordeals in life.
